Drurer lived in Italy in 1494, when he returned to Germany his art and his writing helped spread the renaissance there.

Erasmus talked about being open minded and good to one another, and about religious reform. Moore talked about the perfect society where men and women live in peace and harmony.

1) Books were cheaper
2) People learned about different things and expanded thier horizons

Because in order to have artists who can work on art and do things other than scrape together food and shelter for survival (which is what most of them end up doing anyway) you must have a society that is economically well off enought to support them.
