African Americans
Level 1
1. African americans were segregated in the military and put into separate training training camps.
2. They were given lower ranked jobs compared to whites that often took place off of the battlefield.
3. Even on the home front blacks were not given equal opportunities because whites wanted the jobs to be for them and not blacks.
4. Even though blacks were not treated fairly they were eventually put into the battle alongside whites.

Even though blacks were crucial fighters in the war they still didn't get equal treatment because of whites previous feeling of superiority.
Mexican Americans
Level 1
1. Many Mexican Americans went and served in the U.S. armed forces.
2. The U.S. began a program called the Bracero program that helped farmers grow more food. Mexican Americans were laborers for this program.
3. Mexican Americans moved to urban cities and industries. They lived in neighborhoods called Barios where they invented the zoot suit.. Along coat and loose baggy pants These suits were associated with gang violence.

Many Mexican Americans left for the war leaving a problem of lack of laborers, the US brought Mexican Americans to the US to work as laborers at farms and in industries, the Bracero program.
