The normative theories

Theories of character, theories of action, theories of value

Theory of action

Investigates the questions of why a person should act in a certain manner.

Theory of character

Studies the traits of the individual, their vices and virtues.

Theory of value

How important are certain ideas to the individual (i.e. justice, bravery, etc.).

Metaethics

Investigates the definition for the terms used.

Applied ethics

Applying one's understanding of the philosophies of the other two categories in actual scenarios.

Prescriptive ethics

How one should behave, even against the norm.
