dome of the florence cathedral

construction began in 1420 & finished in 1436. a dome of such size had never been built and new ways had to be thought up to hold everything up. the dome built using bricks. be built the dome by crosshatching each layer so it wouldn't sunk in.

birth of venus

thought to be painted in the mid 1480s. venus was born from sea foam and is shown standing on a sea shell. the figure zephyrus is shown blowing venus to shore of the island cythera. pomona is to the right of the painting & awaits on shore for venus. Boticelli did not bother to draw pomona to scale, he just wanted to showcase her in a grand way
