They say dog is man’s best friend. Well…I don’t know who “they” are, but they trulyshould do some research before making such inaccurate and erroneous statements. Not only is this common phase highly biased towards the male gender – I mean, what is woman’s best friend, hmm? “Diamonds?” Don’t make me laugh! – but it isalso very rude to human best friends everywhere. Who would want to be one-upped by a dog?

That is why I – an owner of three dogs myself - would like to show you all here today how and why dogs are not only NOT man’s best friend, but also that they aren’t even that great.

To begin, dogs are like friends. And we all know how annoying they can be. Who wants constant companionship all the time, anyway? Not me. And taking care of friends – like the canine species – is difficult; you have to clean them, take them for a walk, feed them, potty train them, and teach them not to drink from the toilet. And imagine all the other things you have to do for a dog on top of these!

Dogs are also just too nice. It’s tiring always having someone be there for you and be happy to see you when you come home from a stressful day at school or work. There are far more apathetic, uncaring pets you could own that would be far less emotionally invested in your life.

In fact, that is yet another reason dogs are not the greatest pets: there are far greater pets you could own. Think about it, you could own a dog…OR you could own: ...

[POWER POINT BETWEEN EACH] a cat, a hamster, an iguana, a Venus fly trap, a lamp, a brown hare, a brown hair, a British Prime Minister, a potato, an obsession with an actor you’ll never meet, Shia Labeouf… The better options are endless!

On top of this, dogs are physically too cute for humans. The aesthetics of dogs is like sugar: it seems nice, but too much can be bad for you. In fact, I have some examples here, however I must warn you: these pictures and videos are of dogs, and – as I mentioned before – may be detrimental to those who view them. Please view with caution…

Here are some pictures of my own canines at home. [POWERPOINT] See how big their eyes are… That is to stare into your soul and read all your deepest fears and secrets. Note how they use their human-given advantages of what we consider “cute” to gain trust and make them appear harmless.

Here is a video of another dog owned by another person who would like to remain anonymous in shame and fear of owning a dog...

Despite all we’re told by society, dogs are nowhere near as great as they are made out to be. They are loud, dependent, and too loving, none of these traits anyone would want to take care of for years on end. Therefore, I’ll leave you by simply urging you to stop calling dogs “man’s best friend”, “cute”, “lovable”,“the greatest creatures on this Earth who must be protect at all costs”, and by replacing those with “Dogs: They’re OK at best” [PIC]. Thank You.
