This past semester we have been asked to follow one guiding question. that question was “what inspires and shapes our American voice?” many of your answers might be friends, music, or even polotics. But to me what truly answers this questions is our parents and our teachers.

The reason i say my parents is because if they weren't there all those years to teach what was right and wrong, we would have no say in how we think things should be done. Our parents have been there to stand up for us and that eventually teaches us to stand up for ourselfs even if it is going against what some one else thinks.

it makes think about a quote i read by Chris Jami-- the quote read “Any fool can do something cool and look cool, but it takes skill to make something uncool cool again.” This quote basically tells us what our parent have been telling most of our lives. it shows that if you just follow people to be liked in a certain group and do what they are doing then you are not standing out, and your not standing up for your self and what you believe in.

Personaly i have allways tried to be myself around others and don’t like it when people try to be fake to be in a group of people if they are not meant to be friends with. I bet the world would be alot less stressful if we just believed in ourselves like our parents believed in us and did not care what a certain group thought of us if we weren't the way that they thought we should be....
