Binds strongly with both alpha and beta receptors, producing blood pressure, increased heart rate, bronchodialation.

Indications
|
Bronchospasm, allergic and anaphylactic reactions, cardiac arrest

Contraindications
|
Arrhythmias and other pulse less VT/VF, asystole, PEA, cardiovascular disease, hypertension, CVA, shock, closed angle glaucoma, diabetes, pregnant women in active labor; known sensitivity to epinephrine.

Side Effects
|
Anxiety, headache, cardiac arrhythmias, hypertension, nervousness, tremors, chest pain nausea vomiting.

Cautions
|
Half life of 1 minute, pregnancy class C.

Dosage /Route of administration
|
Cardiac Arrest: Adult- Initial Dose 1mg (1: 10,000 Solution) IV IO May Repeat every 3 to 5 Minutes
Pediatric: Initial dose 0.01 mg/kg (1: 10,000) IV IO May repeat every 3 to 5 Minutes Symptomatic Brady Cardia: Adult-1 mcg/min (1:10,000) Solution as a continuous IV infusion, usually dosage range 2-10 mcg/min titrate to effect Pediatric: 0.01 mg/kg (1:10,000) IV IO may repeat every 3 to 5 minutes max dose 1 MG. If giving epinephrine by ET tube administer 0.1 mg/kg Asthma Attacks and Allergic Reactions Adult- 0.3-05 mg (1:1000) Solution IM or Sub Q may repeat every 10 to 15 minutes. Max dose 1mg Pediatric: 0.01 mg/kg (1:1000) solution IM or sub q max dose (0.5)mg Anaphylactic Shock Adult : 0.1 Mg (1:10,000) solution over 5 minutes. Or IV infusion of 1-4 mcg/min, titrated to effect. Pediatric: Continuous IV infusion rate of 0.1 to 1 mcg/kg/min (1:10,000) titrate to response. |
