Meaning behind a word.

Can mean giving a non- living thing human characteristics.
Ex: The wind roared. OR Person used as an example to show a certain quality. Ex: Uncle Same personifies patriotism. |

Extended Metaphor
|
When a comparison of 2 things lasts for several sentences, a paragraph, or even throughout an entire story/passage.
Ex: What point is the author trying to make, with his extended metaphor that compares life to a spider web? |
