Can mean giving a non-living thing human characteristics.
Ex: The wing roared. OR A person used as an example to show a certain quality. Ex: Uncle Sam personifies patriotism |

Extended Metaphor

When a comparison of 2 things lasts for several sentences, a paragrah, or even throughout an entire story/passage.
Ex: What point is the author trying to make, wit his extended metaphor that compares life to a spider web. |
