|
(A synonym of "implies") Meaning behind a word. (EX. The word "childlike" connotes innocence.

Personification
|
Can mean giving a non-living thing human characteristics. (EX. The wind roared.) OR A person used as an example to show a certain quality. (EX. Uncle Same personifies partriotism.)

Extended Metaphor
|
When a comparison of two things lasts for several sentences, a paragraph, or even throught an entire story or passage. (What point is the author trying to make, with his extended metaphor that compares life to a spiderweb.)
