Environmental Science
An interdisciplinary field that includes both scientific and social aspects of human impact on the world. `
Environment
Everything that affects an organism during its lifetime. In turn, all organisms including people affect many components in their environment.
Science
An approach to studying the natural world that involves formulating hypotheses and then testing them see if the hypotheses are supported or refuted.
Ecosystem
A region in which the organisms and the physical enviornment form an interacting unit. Within an ecosystem, there is a complex network of interrelationships.
Wilderness
Areas with minimal human influence. Much of this land is owned by governments, so the government policies have a large effect on what happens in these regions.
