What is a noun?
A noun names a person, place, thing, or idea: student, college, textbook, education
What is a pronoun?
A pronoun takes the place of a noun. The words or word that a pronoun replaces is called the pronoun's ANTECEDENT. Personal Pronouns = I, you, its, her, they, ours, and others refer to people or things. RELATIVE = who, which, that introduces certain NOUN CLAUSES and ADJECTIVE CLAUSES
What is a verb?
Main verbs express action, occurrence, or state of being. ALERT If you are not sure whether a word is a verb, try substituting a different tense for the word. If the sentence still makes sense, the word is a verb.
What is an adjective?
Adjectives modify that is, they describe or limit-NOUNS, PRONOUNS, and word groups that function as nouns.
What is an Adverb
Adverbs modify--that is, adverbs describe or limite - VERBS, ADJECTIVES, other adverbs, and CLAUSES.
What is a preposition?
Prepositions are words that convey relationships, usually in time or space. Common prepositions include in, under, by after, to, on, over, and since. A prepositional phrase consists of a preposition and the words it modifies. If the object it modifies is not a noun or a pronoun, it is not a preposition.
What is a conjunction?
A conjunction connects words, phrases, or clauses. Coordinating conjunctions join two or more grammatically equal words, phrases, or clauses.
What is an interjection?
An interjection is a word or expression that conveys surprise or a strong emotion. Alone, an interjection is usually punctuated with an exclamation point.
What is written communication?
Written communication involves sending a message to a destination.
What is academic writing?
Writing you do for college and other scholarly endeavors: to inform a reader and to persuade a reader.
What is Rhetorical strategies?
They are techniques for presenting ideas clearly and effectively. Rhetorical strategies reflect patterns of thought long in use in ur western culture. Common rhetorical strategies are NARRATIVE, DESCRIPTION, EXAMPLES, PROCESS, DEFINITION, ANALYSIS, CLASSIFICATION, COMPARISON AND CONTRAST, ANALOGY, CAUSE AND EFFECT ANALYSIS
What is Tone?
Tone is how you say something. It reveals your attitude toward your audience as well as how you feel about your subject.
What is Plagarism?
The copying of someone elses thoughts and ideas stating they are your own.
WHAT IS CRITICAL THINKING?
It means taking control of your conscious thought process. It is an attitude as much as an activity.
What is a paragraph?
It is a group of sentences that work together to develop a unit of thought.
WHAT IS COHERENCE?
paragraph has coherence when its sentences relate to each other, not only in content but also in choice of words and grammatical structures. A coherent paragraph conveys continuity because the sentences follow naturally from one to the next.
WHAT IS WEB CLUSTERING?
clustering, is a visual form of brainstorming. To map, write your topic in the middle of a sheet of paper, and draw a circle around it. Now, moving out from the center, use lines and circles to show ideas that are subtopics of the topic in the center circle. Continue to subdivide and add details, as the example below shows.
