What literay genre did Faulkner introduce us to in The Sound and The Fury?
- The Sound and the Fury is most definitely a modernist novel in the sense that Faulkner focuses on a nihilistic attitude toward the world in general and how people behave towards one another. The normal narrative conventions are abandoned, leaving much to the reader to decipher on their own, a typical approach by modernist poets and writers. He uses stream of consciousness as a narrative technique disregarding chronology, normal sentence structure, and multiple narrators.
