What years did Elizabethh 1 live? How old was she when she died?
1558-1603. 43 years old
What was still being discovered about the earth and culture?
The belief in the earth was flat and people thought nothing was faster than the horse.
What were meals like?
Crude
What were the meal settings like?
Upperclass only had own setting at mealtime. Lowerclass had large trenchers (bowls) thay all ate out of.
What were the eating utensils for meals?
No forks for anyone. Only spoons and knives. Most common for lower class was hands.
When did servants eat?
Waited and ate leftovers, or smart cooks made extra and kept it behind for fresh food.
What was the winter diet like?
-monotonous and unhealthy.
-meats salt cured (dry)
-when meat ran out, they ate pigeons
-fruits and vegetables scarce

-not uncommon to see sewage under bridge in the water
-so filthy and stinky, wealthy would put orange with cloves in it under their nose when they would walk across the bridge.

Cobblestone streets. Everywhere else was dirt.

-No disposable system(dumped in ditches)

No newspapers, so letters via ship, travelers, musicians, acting shows, government dignitaries

-Superstitious(into supernatural things like ghosts,etc.)
-shoes had pointed toes to protect from evil(wealthy had longer ones)

-Fine ladies of quality knew how to play piano or harpichord, or piano forte.
-3 Blind Mice made up (about 3 priests in Catholic Church who were blind to needs of people)

-Latin common language
