Step 1: DIAGNOSIS

Endo Ice

- Refrigerant spray used to diagnose pulpal health.

- Applied with a cotton pellet.

- Sold in 6oz can.

Step 2: Isolation

Dental Dams- isolate the tooth to provide a clean working environment and prevent tools and debris from falling into patient's mouth. Keeps the working area dry.

Brand name is Hygenic

Flexi dam:

- framed or unframed; latex free; powder free

- unframed comes in 6"x6"

Dental dam:

- latex or non-latex; powder or powder free

- comes in 5"x5" and 6"x6"

Elasti-dam:

- powder free

- latex

- 5x5" or 6x6"

Fiesta:

- latex

- color coded and fruit scented

- 5x5" or 6x6"

Step 2a: Isolation with clamps or wedjets

Wedjets:

- latex or non-latex

Clamps:

- further isolate the tooth and prevent dental dam from slipping

- winged or wingless

- glossy or matte

Fiesta: color coded for organization; matte; winged or wingless

Step 3: Access

Use rotary bur to access the pulpal chamber and then use an orifice opener to flare the coronal portion of the tooth.

Step 4: Locate apex/ apical constriction

Find the working length of the canal using a combination of hand files, radiographs and an apex locator.

A size 8 or 10 Hyflex x-file hand file is generally used to create a glide path to the apex.

Canal Pro apex locator:

- dual impedance technology allows for real time communication between procedure and LCD color display

- 94% accuracy

- audio and visual feedback

- working length determined using this device should be checked with radiograph

Step 5: Canal Preparation

Purpose: remove infected tissue, irrigate the canal, shape the canal.

Hyflex NT:

- best suited for calcified canals, straight canals, retreatments and removal of gutta percha

- .04 taper, 15-60

- .06 taper, 20-40

Canal Preparation continued

HyFlex EDM files

- produced using Electric discharge machining. This uses spark erosion to harden the surface of the file resulting in superior fracture resistance and cutting efficiency.

- Pre-sterilized

- Multi-use

- dual taper sizes and variable cross section design (triangle at the top, trapezoidal in middle, and rectangular at tip)

- 25mm length only

- available individually or as a shaping/finishing set

Canal Preparation continued

HyFlex CM rotary file

- Controlled memory makes extremely flexible allowing to efficiently navigate the anatomy of the canal wall while reducing risk of separation.

- Multi-use: autoclaving will bring files back to original shape and strengthen files.

- .4/.6 tapers

- available individual or as a shaping set

Step 6: Irrigation

Mechanical debridement alone cannot sufficiently clean and disinfect the root canal system, therefore chemical debridement is required in conjunction.

Canal Pro Extra NaOCl (Sodium hypochlorite)

- powerful wedding agent

- available in 3% or 6%

Canal Pro EDTA

- Removes spear layer and opens tubules offering better adhesion to the sealer

Canal Pro CHX

- Chlorhexidine is used as a final step for long lasting cleansing.

Accessories:

Canal Pro Syringe Station

Canal Pro Color Syringes

Step 7: Drying

Hygenic Greater Taper Paper points:

- Tightly rolled, sterile and highly absorbent paper points come in sizes .04/.06 taper and up to 28 mm length

ROEKO SurgiTip- endo

- Effective aspiration and good canal accessibility that is specifically designed for multi directional flexibility.

Step 7: Sealer

Coltosol F

- A self curing temporary sealer.

- 2 hour cure time

- Radiopaque

DualTemp

- dual curing temporary sealer sets immediately

- radiopaqued

- comes in a 5ml syringe

- contains zinc-oxide which helps with healing

Step 8: Obturation

ROEKOSeal Automix

- Easy and ready to use 5ml silicone sealer.

- Excellent flowability to fill root canal and alteral canals

- Working time: up to 30 min

- Setting time: 45-50min

GuttaFlow 2

- First 2-in-1 cold flowable

- no shrinkage with a .2% expansion

- biocompatible

- radiopaque

- Gutta Percha + polydimethoselxaine

- Working time: 10-15 min

- Curing time: 25-30min

Obturation continued

Hygenic EDM Gutta Percha points

- used along side HyFlex EDM Files

- Available in assorted or individual sizes

Hygenic Gutta Percha Greater Taper

- ideal for obturating root canals that have been prepared with HyFlex CM or NT files

- Available in .04/.06 taper and in sorted or individual sizes

Step 9: Restoration

Coltene is the market leader in posts and offer a wide variety including:

Parapost XT

- Active threaded titanium post with rounded, undercut head for better core retention

-Raised diamond pattern and retention ledges offer better mechanical retention to canal

ParaPost XH

- Passive cemented with rounded undercut head for better core retention.

- smaller in length with a X pattern for better canal retention

ParaPost Taper Lux

- Passive cemented with rounded head for better core retention

- tapered design for narrow root canals

- Alternative options to metal posts offering better esthetics

ParaPost XP

- Passive cemented with prefabricated casting components for the indirect casting technique.

- Raised diamond pattern design for better canal retention.

Step 10: Restoration (casting)

ParaCore

- Stable product with low film thickness of 15 microns

- Dual cured composite resin system with integrated bond

-25ml is for post cementation and core buildup

-5ml post cementation, core build up and crowns, bridges, inlays and onlays
