Supine
lying on back; (patients with head injuries must remain supine with the head and feet on the same level).
Prone
lying on abdomen, face down
Recovery Position
lying on side, also called lateral recumbent position
Fowler’s Position
patient is seated or leaning back, body is at a 45° - 60° angle. If leaning back in a semi-sitting position, this is sometimes called semi-Fowler’s position.
Trendelenburg Position
patient is lying with the head slightly lower than the feet. also called shock position, (used to treat patients in shock who have NO possibility of head injury).
