Consent: Permission from the patient for care or any other action.
Expressed Consent: consent given by an adult of legal age and mentally competent to make a rational decision. Implied consent: consent presumed of a patient or patient's guardian if could get it. For unconscious adult or child who's parent could not be contacted. In Loco Parentis: in place of parents, a guardian indicated by parents (ex daycare workers). |

Abandonment: leaving a patient after care has been initiated, or passing off patient to a person with a lower certification. Safe Haven Law: Drop off infant or child at police, fire, or EMS station. |
