Full-time work
Full time employment is classified as working 35 or more hours a week
Advantages:
- Higher income
- Steady flow of income
- Non-wage benefits (such as paid holiday leave, maternity leave, sick leave, long service leave)
- Job security

Disadvantages:
- Have to work more hours per week, results in less time for personal things eg. hobbies and family

Part-time work
A part time job is one that employs you for less than 35 hours per week
Advantages:
- Still working regular days and hours but less than full time workers.
- Still receives entitlements but on a proportional basis (pro rata - equivalent entitlements in proportion to the work you do)
- Easier to get part-time jobs as opposed to full time work.
- More flexibility comes with part-time jobs.

Disadvantages:
- Less pay for part-time jobs as opposed to full time work.
- Does not receive a loading given to casual workers (a loading is extra pay on top of full time rate (often up to 20%) to compensate for the lack of access to entitlements for casual workers)
- No fixed income
Casual work
A casual job is a job with no set or irregular working hours
Advantages:
- Paid a loading to compensate for no entitlements.
- Flexibility to agree or refuse to work at particular times
- More social and personal times available

Disadvantages:
- Does not receive a range of entitlements
- Lack of job security for casual workers
Self-employed work
Workers who operate their own businesses
Advantages:
- Freedom to work where you want to and when you want to.
- Some tax advantages to self-employment
- Being responsible for the business, having control over the business.

Disadvantages:
- No guaranteed income each week, results in lack of job security.
- You have to pay for all your own entitlements (eg. if you are sick, you earn no money)
Voluntary and unpaid work
No monetary transaction happens and is out of willingness to help others.
Advantages:
- It is an essential role in society
- It can be good experience

Disadvantages:
- Has no income
- Might not be enjoyable
