Advantages:

- Have to work more hours per week, results in less time for personal things eg. hobbies and family

Advantages:
- Still working regular days and hours but less than full time workers.
- Still receives entitlements but on a proportional basis (pro rata - equivalent entitlements in proportion to the work you do)
- Easier to get part-time jobs as opposed to full time work.
- More flexibility comes with part-time jobs.

Disadvantages:
- Less pay for part-time jobs as opposed to full time work.
- Does not receive a loading given to casual workers (a loading is extra pay on top of full time rate (often up to 20%) to compensate for the lack of access to entitlements for casual workers)
- No fixed income

- Flexibility to agree or refuse to work at particular times
- More social and personal times available

Disadvantages:
- Does not receive a range of entitlements
- Lack of job security for casual workers

- Some tax advantages to self-employment
- Being responsible for the business, having control over the business.

Disadvantages:
- No guaranteed income each week, results in lack of job security.
- You have to pay for all your own entitlements (eg. if you are sick, you earn no money)
