What can cause this rash?
Name the milder form and the more severe form. |
It is Stevens-Johnson. Causative mneumonic is SOAP HiM (Sulfonamides, Oral hypoglycemics, Anti-epileptics, PCN, Herpes, Malignancy or Mycoplasma.
Milder form (that starts on skin, not mouth) is E. multiforme. More severe form (that affects greater body surface area) is TEN |

TEN (autoimmune d/o w/ reaction against the proteins that hold epidermis to dermis). See Nikolsky's sign.
Skin lesions follow eye and mouth lesions. Generally start on face, hands or genitals. Usually >30% of skin involved |

Where does this rash usually start?

SSSS - Generally in the skin creases, similar to Scarlett Fever (Pastias lines.) It then progresses to cover the rest of the body. Unlike TEN and SJS, it spares the mucosa.
