What is emf? |
Source of electrical energy per unit charge produced by the source |
What is internal resistance? |
The loss of potential difference per unit current in a source when current passes through the source |
What is a potential divider? |
Consists of two or more resistors in series with each other and a source of fixed potential difference which is shared between the components. |
What is ohms law? |
Potential difference across a component is directly proportional to the current through it |
What happens in a series circuit? |
Voltage shared between components and current is the same. |
What happens in a parallel circuit? |
Voltage is the same and current is shared |
What was Kirchoff's first law? |
Total current flowing into a point is equal to the current flowing out |
What is kirchoff's second law? |
Around closed loops in a circuit sun of potential differences across all components is 0. Any charge that starts and ends up at the same point must have gained as much energy as it lost |
Define volt |
One joule per coulomb |
