The law of electric charges

static electricity

static electricity is electricity at rest on the surface of an object. it does not flow.

Conduction and Induction

Conduction-charge by contact. charging an object with an existing charged object. can either include a charged and neutral object or two charged objects.


Induction-charging a neutral object by bringing another charged object close to, but not touching the neutral object. the electrons can temporarily move position then go back to their original position. or it can be permanent by grounding.

grounding

grounding is to connect to a conductor, through some conducting material directly to the ground or earth in order to effectively remove an electric charge that an object might have.

friction

occurs when two different materials are rubbed together or come in contact and electric charges are transferred from one object to the other. one is more likely to attract electrons and become negatively charged while the other is more likely to lose electrons and become positively charged.

Conductors and Insulators

Conductors: a material that lets electrons move easily through it. metals make the best conductors


Insulators: a material that does not easily allow the movement of electrons through it. non metals are the best insulators.

Types of circuits

Series: electric circuits with ONE PATH for electrons to flow.


Parallel: an electric circuit with TWO OR MORE paths for electrons to flow.
