What are the power supplies for 1(2)G-06 and 07, Rod Drive Motor Generator Sets?

1(2)G-06 Powered from 1(2)B-01

1(2)G-07 Powered from 1(2)B-02

What is the purpose of the Rod Drive Motor Generator Flywheel?

Ensures that momentary (<1 sec) loss of power to the Rod Drive Motor Generator does not cause >5% drop in output voltage, preventing a trip.

-

In simpler terms maintains 100 kw of output power for a full second after input power has failed.

What will cause a trip of the Rod Drive Motor Generator Motor Breaker?

- B-01 (B-02) Under-voltage

- Overload

What will cause a trip of the Rod Drive Motor Generator Output Breaker?

- Motor Breaker trip with the Synch Switch OFF

- Reverse Power

- Overload

How is the Rod Drive Motor Generator Output Breaker closed on the first MG set placed on-line?

On the second MG set?

First MG set output breaker is closed manually.

Second MG set breaker closes automatically.

How is the second Rod Drive MG Set placed in service?

The Motor Breaker on the second MG set is taken to trip, then the output breaker will auto close when the two machines are in sync. The motor breaker is then closed automatically.

The loaded machine will be at a slower speed, so opening the input breaker will cause the unloaded machine to slow, and therefor synchronize.

How is a ground on an MG set detected?

MG Set grounds will be transmitted to C-04 Annunciator "Rod Control System Ground".

What is unique about the Rod Drive MG Output breaker with respect to the control switch in pullout?

The output breaker may still close with the control switch in pullout if the sync scope is on.

What 4 ALARMS are associated with the Rod Drive MG Sets?

-Reactor Control System Urgent Failure

-Reactor Control System Non-Urgent Failure

-Reactor Control System Ground

-Reactor Control System MG Breaker Trip

What components in the Rod Drive MG Sets are Tech Spec Related?

Reactor Trip Breakers

Reactor Trip Bypass Breakers

*LCO 3.3.1

Describe how the Anti-Pumping Circuit of the Rod Drive MG Sets work.

Locks out the Sychronizer if the MG Output Breaker does NOT remain closed for more than .15 seconds.

What does the Anit-Motoring Current Protection do for the Rod Drive MG Sets?

Trips the MG Output Breaker on Reverse Power.

According to OI-31, how many paralleling attempts are allowed with the Rod Drive MG Sets?

Maximum of 5 attempts.

For the Rod Drive MG Sets, how is the Generator Ground Protection Relay (GGX) reset?

Locally, the alarm palm switch must be depressed, then the flag can be reset.
