Out of Harold Hardraada and William Duke of Normand Harold Goodwinson got the throne because he was promised the throne 3 times, Edward's wifes brother, a leading ENGLISH saxon lord and had won a number of battles for Edward

What happened when harold was king?

Harold Hardraada and William were angry so Harold Goodwinson faced Hardraada because Hardraada wanted the throne. Goodwinson surprised Hardraada and defeated him on 21st september at stamord bridge. Next after deafeating Hardraada they marched to Hastings and battled William Duke of Normandy. Goodwinson was winning until the Normans pretended to run away, turn round and cut the saxons to shreds with superior soldiers.

Who became king after William Goodwinson

The Normans won the Battle of Hastings and William died so his quest to defeat him was succedeed. He then became king and beople decided to protest against him in the south west, south east (he burnt houses,crops and castles here to show strength the people gave up without a fight.) Between 1067 and 1071 rebels escaped to scotland.
