a tendency to develop physical symptoms or fears associated with personal or school problems.”

Not a “social maladjustment”, includes schizophrenia.
IDEA Def: Specific Learning Disability (SLD)
Specific learning disability—(i) General. Specific learning disability means a disorder in one or more of the basic psychological processes involved in understanding or in using language, spoken or written, that may manifest itself in the imperfect ability to listen, think, speak, read, write, spell, or to do mathematical calculations, including conditions such as perceptual disabilities, brain injury, minimal brain dysfunction, dyslexia, and developmental aphasia.

Meant to help manage challenging behaviors.
When is an FBA conducted as i relates to positive behavioral supports?
FBA is conducted at tier 2 and 3 of PBIS. Look at Antecedent, Behavior, COnsequence (ABC) of students actions.

Helps understand the function of challenging behavior.
Steps to EBD Eligibility
1. Team Meeting: Inform parents, collect assessments

2. Review Data: Academic, psych, medical, evaluations, school file, FBA, Interviews.

3. Review Data: Student is found eligible, moves onto IEP and special ed placement, or student is found ineligible or parents aren't in agreement.
