Any living thing that affects organisms or the ecosystem.

Abiotic (factor)

Any non-living thing that affects organisms or the ecosystem.

Population

The number of organisms of the same species in a specific area.

The population per unit area.

Ex(45,000 people/mi^2, 600 squirrles/km^2, 335,000 wolves per miles squared)

Biodiversity

The level of variety of species in a specific area

Density dependent factors

Things in an ecosystem that is affected by the size of population or increased competition

Ex: Food, Shelter, Water, Predation, Parasitism.

Density independent factors

Things in an ecosystem that is NOT affected by the size of population.

Ex: Whether conditions, Pollution, Natural disasters.

Salinity

The level of salt dissolved in water or a liquid I.e saltiness.

Genetic variation

The level of diversity of DNA of a specific species in an area.
