EST. by the USN, Regulations, general orders, customs & tradition. Ultimately responsible for all those under his/her command & their actions.

Direct representative of the CO. Responsible for the organization, performance of duty, & good order & disciplineof the entire command. His orders have same weight as the CO.

Date and time expressed in Greenwich Mean Time. 6 digits. First 2 are the day, next 4 are time, followed by zone suffix(usually Zulu), last part is date(month) & year.
What is the purpose of the From Line in a message?
First line of address component & contains the originator or drafter's plain language address. MUST have on ONE originator.
What is the purpose of the To Line in a message?
Contains the address of the person or command who the message is going to.
What is the purpose of the Info Line in a message?
Contains the addresses of those who you would like to look at or send the message for info purposes.
What is the purpose of the Classification/declassification Line in a message?
The first line of text which must give the message's classification. Top Secret, Secret or Confidential
What is the purpose of the Standard Subject Identification Code(SSIC)in a message?
4-5 digits that stands for the subject of the document.Req'd on all messages. Makes it easier to file/retrieve. 14 SSIC groups.

Main topic of message. Always in capital letters.
What is the purpose of Passing instructions in a naval message?
Navy automated message processing system relay for the most part on certain elements at the beginning of text. Guides assist in the automatic internal routing.
What is the purpose of a Reference Line in a naval message?
ALternative to reapeating ref. material. Always lettered and used in the order that they are referred to. "AS per reference (a)..."
What is the purpose of the amplifying information line in a naval message?
Used to amplify or supplement the data text.

Used to provide amplifying information which pertains to the data text.

"BODY" of message that contains the thought or idea the drafter desires to communicate. The reason for the rest of the message.

Record of emergency data. Reference for beneficiary data.
What is a Page 4 service record entry?
Enlisted Qualification History. Chronological history of occupational & training related quals, awards & commendations. Entries should be made as events occur.
What is a Page 13 service record entry?
Administrative Remarks. Significant entries that don't go anywhere else or detailed information about other entries.
What is a Enlisted Distribution Verification Report(EDVR)?
Monthly statement of activities assigned enlisted personnel. Provides summary of present and future manning status. Used by CMC and detailers.
Explain the use of a Report and Disposition of Offense(s)(NAVPERS Form 1626/7).
Court Memo; Page 7 in record. Used to record court-martial and NJP which affect pay.
What is the purpose of the Operational Report (OPREP)?
This message has highest precedence. Used by anyone to notify National Commnad Authorities(NCA) & naval commanders of any incident involving possible detonation of a Nuke.
What is the purpose of the Movement Report(MOVEREP)?
The Movement Report Centers/Offices account for all ship & command movements. Primary source for location information concerning ships.
What is the purpose of the Logistical Requirments(LOGREQ)?
Report ships submit prior to entering a port notifying proper commands of its logistic requirements. 48 hours before ship arrieves
What is the purpose of the Status of Requirement and Training Support(SORTS)?
Reports the ship's status of conditions of readiness in all warfare areas in our ability to conduct operations.
What is the purpose of the Situation Report(SITREP)?
Used by unit commander to tell higher authority w/timely notification of any incident not meetin OPREP-3 special incident criteria.
When is a SITREP submitted?
When directed, considered appropriate, bomb threats have been evaluated as a hox, reporting violent crime, including assault, robbery, abuse, by active or dependent personnel, discrimination, sexual harassament & incidents of suicide or attempted suicide.
