What does the Eustachian tube do?
Equalizes pressure to each side of
tympanum |
Identify the Cochlea (inner ear) and function?
- transforms the
vibrations of the cochlear liquids and associated structures into a neural signal (AKA receptors for sound) - These messages are then passed to the auditory nerve and carried up to the brain. |
Identify C
its function? |
Semicircular Canal
-three fluid-filled bony channels in the inner ear. - They are situated at right angles to each other and provide information about orientation to the brain to help maintain balance/ equilibrium. (sense, posture, balance)
Identify D
Its function? |
VESTIBULE
- chamber / cavity where stapes is attached to and holds some of the semi-circular fluid |
Identify B
it's function? |
Vestibulocochlear Nerve
CN 8 |
identify B
B- Incus (looks like a tooth) |
identify all 3 ossicles
Hammer = Malleus (connected directly to tympanum)
Anvil or tooth = Incus Stirrup = Stapes |
identify A and B
A = Pinna ( auricle of ear)
B = External Auditory Canal or Acoustic Auditory Canal |
what is ampulla?
