Tectonic Plates –
located within earths lithosphere, moved by currents, causes earthquakes when collide. Float on semi liquid magma at top of mantle

Plate Tectonics –
Combination of two theories; continental drift and seafloor spreading.
Continental Drift –
idea that countries are moving and have changed positions over years. One land mass called Pangea.
Seafloor spreading –
middle of the ocean is spreading apart, moving slowly in opposite directions
Convection Currents –
Heat from mantle rises then cools and goes back down. A current is created from this movement
