Criterion A

Marked fear or anxiety about being in at least 2 of the 5 situations:


1. Using public transportation


2. Open spaces


3. Closed spaces


4. Standing in line or crowd


5. Going outside of the home alone


Criterion B

Individual fears or avoids these situations bc of the thoughts escape will be difficult or help is not available in the event of developing panic like symptoms, or other incapacitating or embarrassing moments

Criterion C

The agoraphobic situations almost always provoke fear and anxiety

Criterion D

The agoraphobic situations are actively avoided or endured with great fear and anxiety

Criterion E

The fear or anxiety is out of proportion to the actual threat

Criterion F

The fear, anxiety or avoidance is persistent, lasting for 6 months or more

Criterion G

The fear, anxiety or avoidance causes clinically significant distress or impairment in social, occupational and other important areas of functioning

Criterion H

If another medical condition is present, the fear, anxiety, or avoidance is clearly excessive.
