Histamine H1 rec. antagonists ( 2nd gen)

Loratadine,desloratadine,cetrizine,levocetrizine,foxfenadine,bilastine,azelastine.Used orally or topically (nasl cavity or eye drop),relieve sx. but has a weaker effect on nasal congestion, cos it isn't caused by histamine degranulation.

Nasal decongestant

1.oxymetazoline,xylometazoline,naphazoline:selective a1 rec. agonist,for nasal decongestion,used as nasl drop or spray.


2.Ephedrine,pseudoephedrine:indirectly acting sympathomimmetic drugs--induce NE release. Indirect a rec. agonist---nasal decongeston. Indirect b rec. agonist---bronchodilation.

Nasal glucocorticoids

beclomethasone,mometasone,fluticasone,budesonide,ciclesonide: very good for nasal decongestion,used topically as nasal aerosol,minimal SE.

Anti-leukotriene drugs

zafirlukast,montelukast,pranlukast
