CHAPTER 1
Describe Mr Utterson
What kind of person was he?
What was he like?
Where did he live?
What did he like doing at weekends?
Mr Utterson was a lawyer. He was 55. He was a tall and thin man. His face was pale and his hair was silver.
He was a serious man but very intelligent and kind. He had many friends.
He lived in a big house in the centre of London.
At weekends he liked going for walks in London.
Who was Enfield?
Where did he take Utterson one Sunday?
Describe this place.
Enfield was Utterson´s friend.
He took Utterson to the East End of London.
This place was the poor part of London, to a narrow and dirty street.
Enfield´s story
What was Enfield doing in the East End that morning?

What happened with the strange man and the girl?
Did Enfield help the girl? What else did he do?
Describe this strange man.
Enfield was looking for a cab that morning.
He saw a strange man walking quickly along the street. A girl was running, she was ten years old. She was running fast and she ran into the man.
The man knocked her over and kicked her. He did not stop to help the little girl.
Mr Enfield took hold of the man.
The man was ordinary. His face was ugly. There was evil in his face, like a wild animal.
What did the strange man do when they wanted to call the police?
What was strange about the cheque?
Whose name was on the cheque book?
When the people called the police, the man said "I will pay you money! Don´t call the police" He went to a house, opened the door with a key and wrote a cheque for 100 pounds.
The name on the cheque book was different from the man´s name. The name on the cheque book was Dr Henry Jekyll, but the name in the signature said Edward Hyde.
CHAPTER 2
Utterson was Jekyll´s lawyer.
What was strange about Jekyll´s will?
Who was Dr. Lanyon?
What did Lanyon think about Jekyll´s work?
Dr Jekyll will said that all his money and properties will go to Mr Edward Hyde after his death.
Dr Lanyon was a doctor, a friend of Utterson and Jekyll.
Lanyon thought that Jekyll´s work was nonsense, not scientific.
Utteson went to Hyde´s house in the East End, he saw Hyde and then visited Jekyll.
What did Pool say about Dr. Jekyll and Mr Hyde?
Pool said that Hyde is a friend of Jekyll´s. Hyde enters the house through the laboratory door. Hyde comes in when Jekyll is out. Poole never sees Hyde, he hears his voice.
CHAPTER 2- 3
Describe Dr Jekyll
Where did he live?
What did he do for a living?
Dr Jekyll was a large man. aged fifty. He was a handsome man.
He was a rich man, he didn´t have to work to earn money.
He lived in a nice house in Cavendish square.
He studied medical and scientific problems.
CHAPTER 4
What happened to Sir Danvers Carew?
Why did the police called Utterson?
Who saw the murder?
What happened?
Hyde murders Sir Danvers Carew.
The police called Utterson because Carew had a letter for him when he died.
A servant girl saw the murder. She said Carew was walking down the street when a small man appeared carrying a stick. She knew the small man was Hyde. The old man stopped and talk to the small man. The small man got angry and hit the Carewe with the stick. He hit him so hard that he broke his stick.
Utterson had seen the walking stick before.
Where? Whose stick was it?
Did the police find Hyde in the East End?
Where did he go?
Utterson recognised the stick because it was Dr Jekyll´s stick. He gave this stick to Jekyll for his birthday.
The police did not find Hyde in the East End. Hyde said he was travelling to France.
CHAPTER 5
Utterson visited Jekyll´s house
Describe the laboratory.
What did Jekyll look like?
What did Hyde send Jekyll?
What was strange about this note?
What did Utterson discover when he compared the note and the will?
Jekyll´s lab had no windows, there were shelves with bottles of chemicals on them. there was a large table in the middle of the lab.
Jelyll looked pale and ill. HE said Hyde sent him a note. In this note Hyde said he was scaping to France or Italy.
The note didn´t have a postmark and no messanger came to the house.
When Utterson compared the note with the will he discovered that the handwriting was the same.
CHAPTER 6
Dr Jekyll was not healthy.
What did he do some days after the party?
Did he receive visitors?
A few days after the party, Dr Jekyll moved to his laboratory. He ate and slept there. He didn´t receive any visitors.
Utterson visited Lanyon. What did Lanyon tell him about Jekyll?
What happened some weeks later?
What did Lanyon leave to his lawyer? Could Utterson read it immediately?
Lanyon told Utterson that he never wanted to see Jekyll again. He had a great shock and he was very ill.
A few weeks later Dr Lanyon died. He left a letter to Utterson but he could read it AFTER Jekyll´s death.
CHAPTER 7
Utterson and Enfield were walking past Jekyll´s house
What happened?
Utterson and Enfield were walking and they saw Jekyll sitting at the window.
They talked for some minutes but suddenly Jekyll put his hands to his face and tuned away.
CHAPTER 8
Poole went to Utterson´s house what was the problem?
What did Jekyll need from the chemist?
Utterson and Pool go back to Jekyll´s house, who is inside the lab? Did he sound like Dr Jekyll? What did they do?
What did they find when they opened the door?
Whose body was it?
What did he find on the table?
Poole told Utterson that Dr Jekyll locked himself in the laboratory.
Jekyll needed some chemicals but when Poole brought them, Jekyll said they were no good. Jekyll sent Poole 3 times to the Chemist.
There is a man inside the lab but he doesn´t sound like Jekyll.
They broke the door with an axe.
When they opened the door they find the body of a small man on the floor. The man was dead, he drank poison.
On the table they found a letter addressed to Mr Utterson from Jekyll.
PART 2 DR LANYON´S STORY
Jekyll sent a note to Lanyon. What did Jekyll ask Lanyon to do?
A strange man appeared to pick up the powders. What did the strange man do with the powders?
What did Jekyll say to Lanyon after the transformation?
Jekyll asked Lanyon to pick up some chemicals from his laboratory. A messanger would come to Lanyon´s house and pick them up.
The strange man put some of the white powder into a glass of water. The liquid turned green.
He drank the liquid and cried. Then, he became to change. The man became taller, and his face became handsome. It was the face of Dr. Jekyll.
Dr Jekyll said " You did not believe me. You said my ideas were nonsense. You were wrong"
PART 3 HENRY JEKYLL´S STATEMENT
What was Jekyll studying? What was he trying to do?
What happened when he drank the drugs? How did he feel?
Who was Edward Hyde?
What problem did Jekyll have with Hyde?
Why didn´t the potion work?
Why did Jekyll drink poison?
Jekyll was studying drugs and chemicals. He was trying to separate good from evil. He wanted to be completely good.
When he drank the drugs, there was a terrible pain in chest. He felt sick. Then he fell to the floor. When he woke up he felt different. He felt young and strong.
Edward Hyde was the bad part of Jekyll.HE was completely evil.
Jekyll could not control Hyde. Hyde took his body and used it. Jekyll could not control it.
The potion did not work because the chemicals were unusual and Mr Maw did not have any more of these special chemical.
He drank poison because if he killed himself, he will also kill Hyde.
