Streptococcus pyogenes

Acquired by inhalation of droplets of active or healthy carriers as well as contaminated food, milk, and water



S/S inflammation of throat, adenoids, and lymph nodes


Left untreated can cause rheumatic fever

Vector: can be transmitted via family pet

Primary atypical pneumonia "walking pneumonia"


Mycoplasma pneumoniae

S/S fever, Malaise, cough

Enters thru ingestion of unpasteurized milk or poultry held in unchlorinated water
