What does Digoxin do?
Increases strength and vigor of heart contractions.
Useful in treatment of heart failure.

Why should levels be monitored?
Pt's with low blood potassium can develop digoxin toxicity (even when digoxin levels are not considered elevated).
High calcium and low magnesium levels can increase digoxin toxicity and produce serious disturbances in heart rhythm.
