What is diffusion?

The spreading out of particles from an area of high concentration to an area of low concentration.

Where does diffusion occur?

In solutions and gases as particles in these substances are free to move about.

What molecules can go inside cell membranes by diffusion?

Very small only such as oxygen, glucose, amino acids and water. These move randomly so they go both in and out of the cell. If there is more particles on one side of the membrane, then there is an overall net movement from that side to the other.

How do particles spread out?
