What's the mechanism of action?

Potentiates effects of inhibitory neurotransmitters. Raises seizure threshold. Induces amnesia and sedation.

What's the dosages for adults and pediatrics?
|
Seizure activity: Adults - 5-10mg IV, Pediatric - .2-.5mg slowly
|

What's the indications?
|
Anxiety states, alcohol withdrawal (delirium tremens), muscle relaxant, seizure activity, agitation.

What are the Contraindications?
|
Hypersensitivity, glaucoma, coma, shock, substance abuse, and head injury.
|

What are the side effects?
|
Respiratory depression hypotension, drowsiness, ataxia, reflex tachycardia, nausea, confusion, thrombosis and phlebitis.

Benzodiazepine, sedative-hypnotic and anticonvulsant

|
Onset- 1-5 mins; peak effect- mins; duration- 20-50 mins.
