|

Indications
|
Status Epilepticus, management of symptoms of ETOH withdrawal, anxiety, skeletal muscle relaxation, Transient analgesia amnesia for medical procedures.

Contraindications
|
Sensitivity to benzodiazepines, substance abuse, alcohol intoxication, children younger than 6 months, com, shock, acute angle glaucoma, CNS depression from head trauma or increased ICP, respiratory depression
|
|
Side Effects
|
Hypotension, tachycardia, respiratory depression, ataxia, confusion, nausea, drowsiness, fatigue, headache, over sedation.

Cautions
|
Monitor blood pressure pulse and respiratory rate every 5 minutes before each IV dose.

Oral, IV , Rectal
Moderate Adult Anxiety- 2-5mg slow IV , IM Severe ADULT AXIETY- 5-10mg slow iv im. Pediatric: 0.04 to 0.3mg/kg dose IV IM every 4 hours ACUTE ALCOHOL WITHDRAWL- 10mg IV Adult SEIZURES- ADULT- 5-10 milligrams slow IV, IO every 10 to 15 minutes maximum dose of 30mg Pediatric- 5 years and older- 1mg over a 3 minute period every 2 to 5 minutes at a maximum dose of 10 Older than 30 days and younger than 5 years- 0.2mg-0.5 mg over a three minute period may repeart every 2 to 5 minutes with a maximum dose of 5mg Neonate- 0.1 to 0.3 mg/kg given over a 3 to 5 minute period. May repeat every 15 to 30 minutes to a maximum dose of 2. Rectal- 12 years and older 0.2mg/kg 6-11 years- 0.3mg/kg 2-5 years- 0.5 mg/kg |
