Describe the pathogenesis of an external syndrome.

Any one of the six evils attacks the body's surface, obstructing the Wei Qi.

What are the clinical symptoms of an exterior syndrome?
|
Alternating fever/chills, aversion to cold, HA, body aches,stuffy/runny nose,itchy throat, mild cough, normal tongue body and coat,floating pulse. If heat exogen- floating/rapid, sweating, sore throat. If cold exogen- floating/tight, no sweat.

It indicates the location and severity of the syndrome. example: exterior=beginning/surface/not serious

Pathological factors have changed-their location is deeper.The zangfu, blood, qi or body fluids may be involved.

Dx is middle or late stage- severe symptoms, long course, difficult to treat.

What are the possible causes of an internal syndrome?
|
Dysfunc of zangfu or abnormal mvmnt of qi/blood or body fluids due to emotions, irreg diet, lack of exercise, inadequate sleep etc.

What are the clinical symptoms of an interior syndrome?

High or low grade fever
irritable or coma very thirsty or abdo pain constipation or diarrhea nausea, vomiting scant/dark urine or clear copious red or pale tongue scant or thick fur deep pulse |
