The Embryology Pathway

Fertilized Egg-> Morula-> Blastula -> Gastrula->

Blastrula

Ball with hollow cavity.

  • Blastacoel= Hollow cavity.

3- Layered Gastrula

1. Ectoderm
2. Endoderm
3. Mesoderm (develops at 3-layer).

  • Blastocoel
  • Archenteron

Ectoderm

"actracto-derm"

  • Skin
  • Eyes/Pupil
  • Brain/Nervous System
  • Ears
  • Hair

Endoderm

"endo-organs"

  • Lungs
  • Pancreas
  • Liver
  • Lining Digestive tract.

Mesoderm

"means-o-derm"

  • Gonads
  • Circulatory
  • Muscle/Bones (Connective Tissue)
  • Kinds/Urine

Blastapore

Deuterostomes = Anus

Protostome= Mouth

Archenteron

A cavity within the blastopore.

Notochord

It becomes intervertebral disk/ spinal disk within the tube area.

Ventral to neural tube.

Neural Tube

  • Spinal Cord
  • Brain
  • Spinal Column

Totipotent Cell

Cells that can develop into any cell in the body.

Induction

Other cells/ environment stimuli influence a particular cell expression. (they are told what to do).

Blastula

  • Hollow ball of cells surrounding a fluid filled center.
  • Blastulation --> Blastula

Blastula

Blastulation begins when the morala develops in a fluid filled cavity called the blastocoel, which by the fourth day of human development will become the hollow sphere of celled called the blastula.

Allantois

  • Sac-like structure involved in respiration and excretion.
  • Develops into the umbilical vessel.
  • Contains blood vessel to transport CO2, O2, salt, N-waste, water.

Chorion

Moist membrane that permits gas exchange.

Amnion

  • Membrane that encloses amniotic fluid.
  • Provides an aqueous fluid that protects the developing embryo from shock.

Yolk sac

  • Yolk sac encloses the yolk. Blood vessel in the yolk transfer food to the developing embryo.
