One of the most frightening experiences i've had happened a few years a go when i was home alone at night |
1 |
It was around midnight, and i was getting ready for bed |
2 |
When i heard a loud banging on the front door |
3 |
At first, i assumed it must be some sort of mistake or prank, but when the banging continued, i started to feel more and more scared |
4 |
I didn't know who could possibly be knocking on my door at that time of night, since i lived in a quiet residential neighborhood |
5 |
I tiptoed over to the door and peeked through the peephole |
6 |
But couldn't see anyone outside |
7 |
The knocking continued, louder and more insistent this time |
8 |
I felt my heart rate increase as i tried to think of what to do next |
9 |
Finally, i mustered up the courage to call police on my phone |
10 |
As i waited for the operator to answer, the knocking suddenly stopped |
11 |
I stayed on the line with the operator until the police arrived about ten minutes later |
12 |
It turned out that there had been a string of burglaries in the area |
13 |
And the police suspected that the person knocking on my door might have been a burglar trying to see if anyone was home |
14 |
Although nothing actually happened, the experience left me incredibly scared and anxious for several days afterwards |
15 |
Looking back on it, i realize how important it is to take safety measures seriously and never underestimate the potential danger of unexpected noises or disturbances |
