Probable cause standard is the best way to ensure students are not unjustifiably harmed.

A survey done by a number of schools has revealed that 73% students were experiencing physical and verbal abuse and sexual harassment from security guards at the school.

77% of reasonable suspicion searches were unsuccessful/incidents or found things that cause no harm. (NYCLU University)

Dignityinschools.org

Disadvantaged students and students of colors are disproportionately punished by Juvenile and criminal justice systems and reasonable suspicion is to blame.

Conducting searches were 6 times greater in schools with minority population above 50% than with schools with minority population between 5 And 20 percent.studnets

Students may develop dangerous habits, if they are regularly searched w/o reasonable suspicion.

-officers are not trained to be in a school setting, so they do not treat students as they are misbehaving, they treat them as they are committing crimes.

- schools earn distrust from students by being ineffective in their role as protecting them,

Causing hostile attitudes, which will correspond with the unwillingness of the student to seek protection or safety from school authorities.

Severe searching is wrong because it makes students unaware of what searches ,which according to the 4th amendment, increases violence and limits education of the constitution

Searches presume youth to be young criminals, treating them with exposure to criminal justice oriented practices, having consequences on the students social mobility, since suspension and expulsion and arrest limit their future educational and employment prospects.

Privacy does not provide safety.

Probable cause standard treats privacy and safety as equal rights,it provide privacy for students but also ensures they are safe. Reasonable suspicion however, treats students as if they have no privacy rights, which is not good for them because it causes them to have different views of their privacy rights and the role the government should play in their lives.

Is carrying a gun part of their privacy?

No, however pro does not support their privacy to carry guns, we support their privacy to carry nonthreatning objects, and when evidence of something threatening like a gun is found, then we will search them.

Only 7% percent of students carry guns under probably cause standard is in place rather than 13% of students who carry guns under reasonable suspicion. (Child trends)

Students rights are already restricted in a public school setting and they do not posses the same constitutional rights as adults.

Yes, students do not posses the same constitutional rights as adults, however, under the fourth amendment, probable cause standard applies to all citizens of the United States, not just political citizens, so this includes students.

Officials need to be able to respond quickly and without limited restrictions in order to ensure the safety of students.

Probable cause standard requires the officer to have evidence in order to search a student, and it proves effectiveness 80% of the time, compared to reasonable suspicion in which is ineffective in finding evidence of something harmful 77% of the time. The point I am trying to prove is that reasonable suspicion is an inaccurate way to search students, therefore the time gap is not a threat to the safety of students.

Loco Parentis

The Court,

held that school officials act as the representative of government, not as parental surrogates, thereby affirming the Fourth Amendment's application to students in public schools.

Utilitarianism

We're not only looking at the whites we're saying that all of the minors which is all students
