If sinx=cosy then x+y=?
90! You can set the equation equal to 90 and solve.
How many ounces are in a cup?
8
How many cups are in a pint?
2 cups or 16 fl oz
How many pints, cups and ounces are in a quart?
2 pints, 4 cups and 32 fl oz
How many cups, pints, fl oz, quarts and liters are in a gallon?
4 quarts, 8 pints, 16 cups 128 fl oz and 3.79 L.
What is the equation for simple interest?
I=PRT (principle) (rate in decimal form) (time)
How can you calculate the money in an account after n years of compounded interest? What if it's compounded quarterly?
A=P(1+r)n. Quarterly is A=P(1+r/4)^4 monthly is A=P(1+r/12)^12
An inscribed angle is what compared to the outer angle?
It is half as large. If the arc is 60 deg. the angle is 30 deg.
How do you go about figuring out probability of r success of n trys? For example, 4 kids: four girls and 1 boy IN THAT ORDER or 5 kids, 2 blond girls (prob of blond .25) and 3 brown boys (prob .75) in no particular order?
There is only 1 way to have 4 girls and 1 boy in that order. So you multiply the probability of each. .5^5 or 1/32. In the next we need to apply both probability and number of possibilities. The probability of 1 possibility is:
1 blond girl= (.5*.25)=.125
1 brown boy= (.5*.75)=.375
One possibility is (.375^3)*(.125^2)=0.000823
How many possible orders are there? N/(S!T!U! etc.) where S T and U are the numbers in each different group (note, if I had said blond boys as well in there, that would be its own group.) So, 5!/(2!*3!)=10

Total is 10*.000823= .00823
How do you calculate the mean, variance and standard deviation of a population?
Mean is all added up and divided by the number of individuals. Variance is sum of (each individual-mean)^2/(#individuals) (E(X-M)^2/(#X)). Standard deviation is sqrt(v).
