How is the gear activated and actuated?
Electronically powered, hydraulically actuated
Describe the switches on the left main gear
Up limit - indicates when gear is fully up
Down limit - when fully extended
Squat switch - indicates when pressure is relieved to prevent retraction on the ground
Describe the switches on the right main gear
Up limit - fully up
Down limit - fully down
Squat switch - derates stall heat to 50%
Describes the switches on the nose gear
Up limit - fully up
2 Down limit - fully down
Full pressure switch - energizes the extend solenoid
What happens to the nose wheel when it is being retracted?
It disconnects from the universal coupling for steering and is centered by the wheel centering mechanism to fit into the well properly
What are three ways the gear are held down?
hyrdraulic pressure, down lock hooks, and spring pressure
Under what conditions will the gear warning horn go off?
Test push, and when airborne, gear not fully down, AND: flaps LDG OR either throttle is below appx 14"
What will happen when the Retract solenoid is Energized and the Extend solenoid is DE-energized?
Hydraulic fluid will enter both the extend and retract sides of the gear actuators. Greater surface area on the Retract side results in differential pressure, so that side wins out, and the actuator "extends", retracting the gear.
What condition occurs when both the Retract and Extend solenoids are energized?
Hydraulic fluid will exit the extend side, returning to the reservoir, and the retract side side will have "full pressure", holding the gear in the UP position.
When the retract solenoid is Energized, what happens?
Hydraulic fluid enters the Retract side of the gear actuators.
What happens when the retract solenoid is de-energized?
Hydraulic fluid exits the Retract side and returns to the reservoir.
What happens when the extend solenoid is energized?
Hydraulic fluid EXITS the extend side of the gear actuators
What happens when the extend solenoid is de-energized?
Hydraulic fluid enters the extend side of the gear actuators.
When both solenoids are De-energized, what occurs?
Fluid exits the retract side, and enters the extend side of the gear actuators. This results in extension of the gear.

When both solenoids are De-energized, what occurs?
Fluid exits the retract side, and enters the extend side of the gear actuators. This results in extension of the gear.
What happens when the Emergency Gear Extension handle is engaged?
The pump is deactivated (or no electrical power), and gravity works. The emergency extension valve is moved, allowing fluid to leave the retract side under pressure, through a one way valve into the extend side to help gravity extend the gear.
