22352: Prima Facie Speed Limits
(presumed speed limits, when not posted)
- 15 mph when transversing railway grade crossings, last 100' of approach, unclear 400' in both directions. This does not apply in event of flagmen or signs for signal device (permitting).
- 15 mph on an alley way
- 25 mph in any business, residence district, unless determined by local authorities to be other.
- 25 mph in "school zone" during "school hours" that do not have a physical barrier (fence/gate) seperating school from road.
- 25 mph in "senior zones", 500' posting.
22350: Basic Speed Law
No person shall drive a vehicle upon a highway at a speed greater than is reasonable or prudent having due regard for weather, visibility, the traffic on, and the surface and width of the highway, and in no event at a speed which endangers the safety of persons or property.
17004: Authorized Emergency Vehicles
A public employee is not liable for civil damages on account of personal injury to or death of any person or damage to property resulting from the operation, in the line of duty, of an authorized emergency vehicle while responding to an emergency call or when in the immediate pursuit of an actual or suspected violator of the law, or when responding to but not upon returning from a fire alarm or other emergency call.
25252: Warning Lamps on Authorized Emergency Vehicles
Every authorized emergency vehicle shall be equipped with at least one steady burning red warning lamp visible from at least 1000' to the front of the vehicle used as provided in this code... may display revolving, flashing, or steady red warning lights to the front, sides or rear of the vehicles.
21055: Exemption of Authorized Emergency Vehicles
- If the vehicle is being driven in response to an emergency call or while engaged in rescue operations or is being used in the intermediate pursuit of an actual or suspected violator of the law.
- FD vehicles are exempt whether directly responding to an emergency call or operated from one place to another as rendered desirable or neccessary... from one fire station to another or reason of emergency.
- Driver of the vehicle sounds a siren... & vehicle displays a lighted red lamp visible from front as a warning to others (drivers & peds). No siren use unless authorized vehicle.
22349: Maximum Speed Limit
No person to drive faster than 65 mph on highway. No person to drive faster than 55 mph on a 2 lane highway, unless faster speed limit posted by DOT or local agency
