Slave labor picks, hammers, with chisels and crow bars to fracture it in the stone in the ground, to get things in and out of ships: cranes, pulleys transport: rollers, skids, and slides. Carve holes in stones in order to attach ropes so they could be set up. For a column they would work it to the 60-70% margin and then finished “fluting” it after it was erected because the were capable of hiding the seams and make it seem as if it was one large rock for the column rather than multiple placed on top of each other. |
