- Pt may have flashbacks, intrusive thoughts |

-Symptoms similar to acute stress disorder/acute PTSD however symptoms persist >3 months

Symptoms do not occur until after 3 months

- Return to previous level of functioning
- fewer/no anxious symptoms - Resumption/enhancement of productivity - Replacement of bad coping strategies with good ones - Improved quality of life - ID triggers |

What classification of meds are used to treat anxiety?
|
-SSRIs (Prozac) first choice
- Benzodizepines (BZDs) - good for panic level ie Zantac, ativan - Buspirone- need to take pill every day -Tricyclic antidepressants (TCAs)- Elavil do not give to suicidal pt; is cardio toxic, overdose can be fatal |
