6 Cards in this Set

  • Back

Cubic:

All 90 angles. All sides the same length.

Example: Galena

Hexagonal:

6-sides figure

Example: Quartz

Tetragonal:

All 90 angles. Two sides have the same length. the third side is a different length.

Example: Zircon

Orthorhombic:

Still all 90 angles. All three sides are different lengths. Think of a brick. All the sets of sides are different, but the angles are 90.

Example: Barite

Monoclinic:

Take your brick from orthorhombic and pretend its base is stuck to the floor. Push the top surface to the side. This will make one of the sides not have 90 angles.

Example: Orthoclase

Triclinic:

This is the most difficult to draw and visualize. This shape has no 90 angles and all the sides are different lengths.

Example: Rhodonite
