1. Focus feedback on behavior rather than the person
2. Focus feedback on observations rather than inferences
3. Focus feedback on exploration of alternatives rather than on answering or solutions
Identify tasks that shouldn’t be delegated
Conceptual planning, Morale problems, Staff problems, Performance reports, Pet projects
Explain the 4 steps in delegation
1. Define the task – is it suitable for delegation
2. Assign the task – choose the right person
3. Grant Authority – enough power to do the task
4. Follow-up – feedback
who is required to receive an EPR
All enlisted staff SrA to CMSgt; A1C if they have 20 months or more of total active federal military service (TAFMS); A1C eligible for SrA below the zone
Identify when an EPR is required
Annually if no changes in reporting cycle; after changes during reporting cycle when there has been 120 days or more of supervision (change in reporting officials, PCS, PCA, etc); completed by leaving official
Describe the promotion methods for enlisted personnel
1.Fully qualified: meeting time or grade requirements; E1-E4

3.STEPS: for those whose performance and potential clearly set them far above their peers, very limited number qualify for this; E5-E7
4.Whole Person concept: calculated by: board score, tests, EPR, decoration, time in service and grade; E8-E9
three steps of the evaluation process
• Observation = planning, preparation, communication, and feedback
• Evaluation = judge observed performance (vs. predetermined standards, performance of others)
• Documentation = record results, provide long term record of professional development; primary instrument for identifying best qualified
