Article 2 applies to contracts that are primarily sales of goods. To determine whether Article 2 applies look at:
i)type of transaction--sale
ii) subject matter of transaction--goods
Common law
Govers service contracts; governs real estate
Mixed deal
Whichever is more important to the contract (goods or services) will determine which law applies
EXCEPTION--if contract divides payment among the goods and services, UCC will apply to the sales of goods, and the common law will apply to everything else
