Adding his valuation pts. to his partner's pts. and determining the strain by finding the longest combined suit
When Responder to a 1NT opening has 0-7 points, bid:
2D, 2H, or 2S with a 5 card or longer suit. Otherwise Pass(signoff bid)
When Responder to a 1NT opening has 8-9 points, bid:
